*note* this post is not a day-by-day post about my trip. I will only be telling you the "main" things that happened, and mostly in the order I think of them - not the order they happened. xP
this trip was different than all the rest.
Because this trip was a gift. A surprise. And that made it or so much more fun.
LaKaysha's 21st birthday was coming up, and she was feeling down about it. (what is
with her!?) I really wanted to do something special for her, but needed help with ideas. So I sent a snap out to my closest friends. What should I do for
LaKaysha's 21st birthday?
I got a few ideas like, take her to her favorite restaurant, or take her to get her nails done.
And then an idea came up. "Too bad I couldn't pay her way to
New Hampshire". and here I'd like to say that my dear sweet cousin
Janeya {2nd cousin}, took me up on this idea. What if we pulled together? Got people to pitch in? What if we could actually pull it off??
I talked to my mom about it. My voice of reason. She said I wouldn't be able to move forward with anything until (1) talked to all our clients and (2) knew I'd actually be able to gather enough money to cover her plane ticket and (3) figure out how to cover
my plane ticket. Because there was no I was going to let her go on this adventure alone. *winks*
So. I secretly got a hold of all our clients/bosses and can you believe it!? They
all agreed to give us
THREE WEEKS OFFFFFFFFF *mind blown* I was so excited!!
The day I decided to actually book the tickets, we were walking the shops in Old Town.
LaKaysha really enjoys this and kept getting annoyed at me when I would say, "Can we go home now?" *laughs* finally I convinced her to stop browsing the shops and go home. And that night my parents helped me book the tickets.
LaKaysha was in the office, typing away on her book, completely clueless. I literally went in the bathroom and danced around for a bit before bed that night.
I don't know how I managed to keep it a secret till her birthday, but I did. *pats self on back*
and then I had to wait till my dad was home from work to tell her!!!! imagine how hard that would be. *shakes head* I did it somehow. I even managed to keep a straight face when
LaKaysha was squealing over a smoothie. *laughs* she really had no idea what was coming.
Finally I could give her her card. and she almost cried. because I really know how to give a gift *winks* (Now, keep in mind that it wasn't just me who paid
LaKaysha's way to New Hampshire.
Janeya,
Felicity + Josiah {sister and bro-in-law}, and
Kirsten {1st cousin} helped *winks*)
March 19th we boarded a plane and off we flew to New Hampshire. Our first adventure just the two of us. We got Italian Sodas at the airport while waiting for our flight. And by the time we landed in New Hampshire we were exhausted but happy.
Felicity and
Josiah were there waiting for us with arms wide open. We slept at their tiny apartment that first night, so we wouldn't have to bother
Grandpa and
Grandma in the middle of the night (not that they would've minded) and also so
Josiah could get a
little bit of sleep before getting up for work the next morning. *winks*
The next morning I woke up to the sound of my little twin cousins.
Cormick and
Callen *hearts*
Felicity was babysitting them, you see. We had a very relaxed morning there at the apartment. Ate a bagel for breakfast. Drank some coffee. Chatted with the sisters. Played with the twins. At one point
Callen ended up wacking his lip on my head. With how loud the wack was, how loud he cried, and how much it bled, you'd think it was way worse than it actually was. When he wacked his lip I immediately picked him up and held him close.
Felicity was asking what happened when she realized he was bleeding allllll over me.
Felicity had to wash my pajamas and scrunchie, and I even had to shower, there was that much blood. Don't worry,
Callen was fine. Lips just bleed a lot, I guess. xP
After a while,
Auntie Mary showed up to get the twins. And she brought me a coffee <3 she also planned our day for us. Because we weren't sure how we were going to get to
Grandpa and
Grandma's, since that was technically where we were supposed to be staying. She said she could bring us later that day, so after she left we put an episode of
Psych going and watched that while doing our hair and stuff. By the time
Mary showed up to get us we were ready to go. So we loaded up our stuff and she brought us "home".
When we got there,
Grandpa and
Grandma were there waiting for us.
Grandpa brought up my suitcase for me, we all hugged, and then we just sorta sat around. Rested after not getting much sleep the night before.
Felicity and
Josiah came over for supper, and we enjoyed a relaxing evening with them. *hearts* please remember that at the time of this trip, we didn't know
Felicity and
Josiah would be moving out here, so we were really enjoying our time with them.
Felicity was first pregnant, and so not feeling the greatest. Most of the trip went like this: relaxing mornings at
Grandma's, afternoons spent at
Felicity's watching
Psych, cleaning for her, cooking for her, and chatting with her, evenings were spent back at
Grandpa and
Grandma's hanging out with whoever was there:
Tyrel {1st cousin},
Janeya,
Felicity and
Josiah.
Obviously, the entire trip didn't go like that, but most of it did. *winks*
Now, you may be wondering how we got around so much. We didn't have a car. And that's true, we didn't. Until one day we were told there was a car over at "so and so's house" that we could use, but "it isn't anything to write home about." And they weren't kidding. That. Thing. Was. Awful. I nicknamed it "that horrid little car", though it was actually far from "little". That thing was huge. Dirty. And just plain nasty.
This is where the story of "stealing a car" comes in. Though it's not that grand of a story. And obviously we didn't steal it. But it sure felt like we were. When
Grandma said there was a car we could use, she said I should ask one of my boy cousins who live there to take us to get it. So I asked
Tyrel. He agreed to take us. But here's the thing.
We didn't know what kind of car it was! And we weren't sure where it was! Like
Tyrel said, it was a recipe for disaster. So we headed to where
Grandma thought it was, and then took a car. Not knowing if we were even at the right house or if we were taking the right car. Because the keys were simply
in it. It really felt like we were stealing it *laughs* But, it was right car, so don't worry.
From there I drove to
Felicity's and we cleaned it the best we could. I thought maybe I'd clean it again at
Grandpa and
Grandma's, but - three weeks there and I never got around to it *laughs* Got around to cleaning
Tyrel's car though.
So yeah. After that we had "that horrid little car" and we drove that all over the place.

A couple times I woke up to a text from
Tyrel, asking if we wanted to meet him for lunch between classes. Because this always happened on a Monday, I'd be just waking up at like 10:30, and would have to skip breakfast in order to get to the college in time. xP But who needs breakfast when you're meeting for lunch? I'd grab a fig bar and eat it on the way. Those lunches were good times. He even took us out to supper one time while we were there. He's a pretty nice cousin for being such a nut *winks*
At one point during our vacation I got a really bad cold. It was miserable. I just woke up one morning with a sore throat and stuffy head. As the day went on it got worse and worse. I ran to the store and bought myself a healthy drink, hoping that would help fight it off, but it didn't. By that evening I had the chills like you wouldn't believe. And it was then that
Felicity and
Josiah decided it would be fun to hike to a falls after supper. I was so chilled I didn't know if I should go, but I did. Turned out the path to the falls was sheer ice - down hill - so that was an adventure. Not to mention I was miserably sick. But I think the cold, fresh air may have been good for me. I felt a little better by the time we got back.
During the week I was sick, I drank a
lot of tea. Sometimes I would go outside with a cup of tea and my diary and just sit on the front steps, the cold air was so refreshing. Sometimes
LaKaysha would join me.
Grandma asked if we were having a tea party. *laughs* Yes
Grandma, we still have tea parties xP
I got over that cold pretty quickly considering how awful it was. Thanks to
Grandma's doctoring up, the peppermint tea and so many cough drops.
One Thursday night we had a sleepover at
Felicity and
Josiah's, after babysitting over at
Auntie Mary's. It wasn't much of a "sleepover" since they watched something in their bedroom, and we used their laptop to watch
Psych out in the living room, where we slept. The next day
Felicity was feeling somewhat better and wanted to clean her own apartment, so we let her. Just sitting on the couch, chatting and sipping tea. Though I'm beyond happy to have them living here now, I am going to miss those times in that apartment <3 We ran to the local coffee shop at some point during the day and I got my first coffee since avoiding dairy and sugar because of my cold.
Every Sunday
Janeya would come pick us up for church. Wasn't that sweet of her!? Though what we did after church was different every Sunday. One time
Felicity wasn't feeling good and needed a nap, so we went with
Janeya and some other girls for lunch. We went to
Chipotle and it was. so. good. *hearts*
Speaking of food, we ate
Pizza Haven so. much. during this trip *laughs* But you can't very well go to
New Hampshire and not eat
Pizza Haven at least a thousand times *winks*
A lot of the time we just ended up back at
Grandpa and
Grandma's after church and just sat there all day - not doing much of anything.
Janeya would sometimes come over. Sometimes aunts and uncles would show up.
Felicity and
Josiah too. We went on a walk around the small town my grandparents live in one Sunday. It was pretty chilly outside, so I probably should've worn a coat, but I didn't xP I think it was that Sunday that my uncle put gas in our borrowed car for us, and picked up ice cream while he was at it. Isn't he nice?
One Sunday we went to the nearby town and got treats. Also walked around a bit and looked at a bridge. That's literally all we did that Sunday, but it was a great time *laughs*
I made pretzels quite a bit. It was a grand time - baking in
Grandma's kitchen. And if you know me, you know that I really like pretzels. On our trip to
New Hampshire back in 2017 I "made"
Felicity and
Josiah (who were only dating at the time) take us all the way to the mall so I could get a pretzel *laughs*
So yeah, this time I didn't want to drag people to the mall just to satisfy my craving, so I just made them myself *winks*
Hanging out with
Janeya was one of the main highlights of our trip, for sure. She's such a doll *smiles* We went to
Olive Garden, went shopping, got coffee, went to volleyball, went to
Longhorn, went to church, or just chilled and chatted at my grandparents house. Not to mention, she planned the trip to
Boston (post coming soon)
I'd like to take the time to thank her for a wonderful time and to send her an air hug *hugs her*
Those long chats with her meant so much to me. For real, she's such a treasure.
*sending Janeya all the love*
Also, all those sister times *hearts* Even if we were just at
Felicity's apartment while she napped and we watched
Psych. Though we did do some fun stuff too. Like walking the streets of a nearby town. We walked through a book shop, got ice cream, took pictures, and
didn't get lost *winks* Also walked around the small town our dad grew up in. Walked around the old cemetery. We even went to
Kimball's one Saturday with the sis and bro-in-law. #goodtimesgoodtimes
ooooohhhhh we also went out for supper with
Felicity and
Josiah one evening and that was a grand time.
When the time came to leave of course we cried.
We had no idea when we'd see
Felicity and
Josiah again. And with the baby coming...
imagine how hard this was!!
Tyrel agreed to take us to the airport- he had to take time off work to do that, so that was super sweet of him.
Janeya came over that morning to say goodbye, and I think we all cried.
Felicity also came over, and was there when we left for the airport. Saying goodbye to her was so hard. I really wanted to cry my eyes out, but I think I stayed pretty strong. Though I do remember my cousin giving me a look that said "poor thing" when he came up to tell us he had loaded our luggage into the car, so maybe I wasn't actually as strong as I thought? *laughs*
When we got in the car
Tyrel asked me if I was ok. I told him no. Which totally freaked him out.
"Why are you not ok!!!??"
I told him I hated leaving. I wanted to tell him more than that, but I didn't want to cry. Which I ended up doing anyway. He let me put my music going, so we listened to stuff like
Randy Travis and
Bryan White during the hour drive to the airport. LaKaysha and I hardly said a word. We just silently sat there and cried. And he let us. I thought he did pretty well, considering I don't know how much he's been around crying girls.
And then we got to the airport and we went home.
I miss my
New Hampshire people. My cousins.
Janeya.
I really miss
Janeya. I keep telling her to come visit me, and she keeps promising she will, but she still hasn't *cries*
Anyway!
So there you have it! a post about my trip to New Hampshire. I hope you enjoyed! One of these days I'll do a little post about our day trip to Boston *grins*
Until next time, Happy Fall!!! *does a little dance because it's now my favorite season*
