twenty facts about twenty-year-old me in twenty-twenty

Hello there! How has life been for y'all? Life's been busy for me. With relatives flying in from out of state for a wedding, and work, and babysitting, life has been nuts. But. Come Saturday, it should all calm down. But, this isn't a life update. This is a fun post that I seen Natasha do, and then I realized that I am a twenty-year-old in twenty-twenty. How cool is that? Of course I had to do this post when I realized that! Like Natasha, I'm gonna try to think of facts that I've never posted on here in my five years of blogging. Five years today, actually.

1. I sometimes wear guy clothes.
yup. you read that right. I have some shirts and things from my uncle and my grandpa, and sometimes I raid my brother's closet. Guy clothes can be super cute and are sooo comfy. trust me.

2. I love to organize.
I would love to re-organize my bookshelf every week if I could. It makes me so happy. So when my boss says it's time to deep clean the kitchen cupboards inside I'm like yaaassss I get to organize the cabinets again! hehe

3. I sing in the car.
It almost doesn't matter how comfortable I am with you. If we're in the car together and a song I know comes on, I most likely will sing. The more comfortable I am with you, the louder I will sing

4. I wore a microphone in school because I was so quiet.
But wait. I thought you were homeschooled?
Well, yes. But from 1st-3rd grade I went to a Christian School, and I was always so quiet the teachers couldn't hear me. But in 2nd grade my teacher understood not being able to talk loud and he had a microphone he had to wear. When it was my turn to read to the class or if I was answering a question he would let me wear it so the rest of the class could hear me.

5. When I was twelve I broke my left foot when I fell down the stairs.
I can't remember if I've already mentioned this on here or not. My uncle and cousins had to carry me around until I borrowed a pair of crutches from my grandpa. Once I got a cast on it was a walking cast, so I didn't have to use the crutches long.

6. LaKaysha and I used to be able to re-enact this scene from Meet Me in St. Louis:
we sang the song and did the dance - all of it.

7. My favorite new tv show is Psych
Not that I think it's a perfectly clean show that everyone should watch, but I love it.

8. I love Mac N Cheese
even though I hated it as a kid

9. I have never read Little Women
but I will!!!

10. I still make up stories in my head, and not always at night.
Sometimes I make up stories while I'm at work, or just sitting on the couch, or eating supper. And I don't make up just crazy stories. Sometimes I just imagine myself doing everyday things like baking cookies *laughs*

11. I am a Christian and I attend a small church that is a part of the Apostolic Lutheran Church of America.

12. My first celebrity crush was Jonathan Taylor Thomas.
and I'm not ashamed to admit.

13. When I was little I was deathly afraid of the book Parts.
To the point where my mom and aunt both had to hide the book from me. We still have it, and I still refuse to look at it.

14. I grew up listening to Cedarmont Kids

15. I grew up with Packy the Elephant.
but I thought his name was Vacuum.

16. My family says I am very dramatic.
*very long sigh*

17. I started to write a book once.
and it was a pretty good story too. Took place in WWII, about four friends who all got involved in the war.

18. I have no clue how to act around people who are aren't my family.
Because I've never been around people who aren't related to me in some way. Not because I don't get out, but because my family is huuuugggeeee.

19. I don't know what color my hair is.
Light brown? Dirty blonde? please help.

20. My sister calls me "Fatso"
*shrugs*

Did any of these surprise you? Can you relate to any?

reintroducing myself

Well, I feel like it's been so long since I've been on here. (ten months, guys. ten. months. *mind blown*) So I decided that maybe  I should re-introduce myself to y'all. I am sorry if this post is just a bunch of randomness that you either already know or don't care about. Also, if there is something you'd like to know about me that I don't tell you in this post, don't be afraid to ask me in the comments below!

boston, 2019. pc: cousin Janeya

Hello. My name is Daminika. I was born in October of '99. So, come this fall, I will be twenty. Twenty. . . *blinkblink* a n y w a y.
I live in a small town somewhere along the West Coast of the United States of America. I would rather not say where on the West Coast, so if you do know, please try not to mention it. I know that by the pictures I post and the places I mention it is pretty easy for people to figure it out, but I'd rather not say it outright. (I hope you understand) I have always lived here. My dream has always been to never leave this beautiful place. But we'll see what God has in store.

I have three sisters. Felicity. LaKaysha. and Liberty.
I have one brother. Chancy.
My parents are amazing. Just so y'all know. *winks*

LaKaysha has always been my best friend. She probably always will be. But I do have other friends who I love very much. Most of them are also my cousins . . . who am I kidding? All of them are my cousins! *laughs*

When I was seven years old I lost my Grandma to cancer. I still miss her. I miss the memories I don't have. I miss her smiles. I miss her hugs. I miss her laugh. I miss her wisdom.
I miss her.

I have a large extended family. Aunts. Uncles. Cousins. The works.
So yes, I've done a few posts about my cousins in the past. And I want you to know that I still love them just as much as I ever have. Even though some of them have moved on in life and rarely seem to have time for their younger (or older) cousin, Daminika. But that's ok. Things change. But my feelings for these cousins never will.  Know that.

A lot of little things bring me joy. Something as simple as a thoughtful note received in the mail. or even just a smile across the room can make my day. A few lucky people even get to see me squeal about little things. like fireflies. bubbles. turtles. stickers. stars. I say "lucky people" because I will only act this way if I am completely and totally comfortable with the people I'm with. And I don't feel that way around many people.
Tell you what. If you want to see the silly-school-girl side of me, take me to the Zoo or the Fair. I can almost guarantee I will act foolish *winks* (random fact #1)

I talk too much. but once again - only if I am completely comfortable with you. (random fact #2)

I not only clean houses for a living but I also homeschool. Not many people know that about me. I help homeschool a couple kids. I really enjoy this part of my job. Though I haven't started teaching yet this school year.

I have been keeping a diary for almost 11 years now. (random fact #3)

I like the Zoo. I like the Fair. I like the Rodeo. I like Tuff Trucks. oh. and I like Disneyland. (random fact #4)

Never ever, ever, ever ask me who my favorite singer is. unless you're willing to sit there for hours while I give you a list a mile long. Shall I name a few? (jk. i won't do that to you)

I actually enjoy flying. I hate security. But everything once you're through that. Yup. I enjoy the airport just as much as I enjoy looking out the window while up in the air. And I even enjoy take off. Not many people I know share this enjoyment with me. Except my Grandpa. He's such a cool guy *winks* (random fact #5)

There are three famous people who I consider family and if you don't share my love for them... well don't get started *winks* (random fact #6) who are they, you ask? Well, I'm curious if any of you can guess. So I'll let that be. Comment your guesses below and I'll let you know who gets them right. *smiles* (hint: one made movies. one wrote books. and one sang songs)

I really, really, really, really, really, really, really like coffee. Like. really. I like it hot. I like it iced. I like it blended. I like mochas (both white and dark). I like latte's. I like frappuccinos. But I also like tea (iced or hot). and smoothies. and Italian Sodas. So yeah, this causes problems when I pull up to a coffee shop. *laughs* (random fact #7)

Almost all my nicknames mean small. Peanut. Small Fry. Smidgen. *shakes head* guess I just take up a small space in the hearts of people. *winks* (random fact #8)

I'm a Disney snob. Sorry. But it's true. These live-action remakes they've been doing? nope. *wrinkles nose* (random fact #9)

And that reminds me! I wrinkle my nose a lot. (random fact #10) Not only when I'm not happy with something. but also when really, truly happy. If I'm so happy I might burst, I will wrinkle my nose when I smile. (note the above picture). This is something I used to be insecure about and so would try my best not to do it. But I finally told myself that "this is me". I wrinkle my nose when I'm happy. Nothing to be embarrassed about. If people don't like it... well then they don't like me. and who needs those kind of people? *winks*

So!
Now that you know a little bit about me. Tell me about YOU! Also, don't forget to guess those famous people *winks*
p.s. I have a tag coming soon!

B R I 'S   Q U E S T I O N S:

Who is one person you look up to?

I'm gonna have to say my Grandpa W. I just love that man so much. I'm always happier when I know he's around. <3

What is the hardest part about blogging for you?

Probably finding things to post that people will enjoy, and I'll have fun putting together. Sometimes I wonder why I even blog. I work hard on a post and I feel real proud of it, then it will only get like three comments. And then I throw together a post that I don't even care about and it gets tons of comments! I don't understand this?

Can you "introduce" us to your family?

Sure!

First, there's my dad. He's the best dad ever and I love him so much. He's always there when I need a hug or a shoulder to cry on. Sometimes he just knows I need a hug even without me telling him. I love how he can read me.
He's not very tall, but then again none of us are. He's been called "The Gray Train" because of his silver hair. I think he's adorable.

And then there's my mom. She's amazing. I love how we can get talking and for hours when we are supposed to be cleaning the house or something. And the next thing we know it's late and we're still running around trying to get everything done.
She's always there when I need advice - always reminding me to pray about all things.

Felicity. My big sister who recently got married and moved three-thousand miles away from me. It's been hard. Sometimes I just block her from my mind so I don't have to think about her not being here. Other times I'm trying hard not to cry for missing her so much. She's a lot like my mom. Always has good advice.
Josiah. The bro-in-law. He's family now, so I'll introduce him too. I've always wanted a big brother. And then he came along. It wasn't long till it was like he's always been there. He's an awesome big brother.

LaKaysha. It's odd how close I am to this girl. I literally tell her everything. We've been sharing a room since before I could remember. Sometimes I want to scream because it seems I can't get away from her. *laughs* We're always together. Always. Except for when we're at work. Though we have worked together... Anyway. She's not even two years older, and she was my playmate as a child. It's always been "LaKaysha and Daminika". We're a package deal. *laughs*

Chancy. I may have Josiah now, and cousins who I have "adopted" as my brothers, but Chancy will always be my favorite brother. My "baby" brother who is way taller than me. Who grabs my ankles until I start to panic. Who "makes" me watch action movies until I dream of a good old-fashioned Disney movie. Who begs to drive every time we go anywhere, even though we're not taking his pickup. We climbed trees together, we laugh together. We tell secrets. (yes I tell secrets to my brother) He's who I yell for when there's a spider or a mouse. The passenger door isn't opening? Call for Chancy.

Liberty. Last but not least. Now the only person left in the family who isn't of driving age yet. My baby sister for ever and always.

We're an odd family. Very affectionate. Always hugging, always sitting on each other. But that's who we are, and I would die if we weren't that way. <3

What is one blog post you've written that you hope none of your readers miss?

Hmmm...
Probably this post :  Life as I've Lived It || Eighteen Years of Being Me. The post that I had to re-live my entire life to write. It took me a long time, and pictures helped me remember it all. When I finally finished it, I just posted it without checking for typos. So... just warning you *winks*

How old were you when you started blogging, and how did you pick your blog title?

I was fifteen. And as for my title?
"I call my blog   Walking in the Sonshine. Dancing in the Rain
'Cause if we walk in the sunshine of Jesus Christ, we can learn to dance in the rain.
And I do love to dance in the rain."
from my about page

What is one skill or talent you have that others might not know you have?

uhhhhh. I take super fast showers? *laughs*

What is your favorite Bible verse(s)?

I honestly don't have one. How do people have a favorite Bible verse?
I'll just say this one:

"[16] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. [17] For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."
John 3:16-17 KJV

If what you say in answer to this question was the only thing you left when you died, what would you say?

Dance in the rain. Cry if you have to. They're both so refreshing.

When you have free time, what is the first thing you want to do?

Probably make a yummy coffee, then sit down with a good book or my diary.

What is your favorite fictional story (or the top few for those of you like me ;)!)?

I'm not gonna lie to y'all. It's "The Daybreakers" by Louis L'Amour *winks*
But I also love "The Sea Before Us" by Sarah Sundin.
The Season's of The Heart series by Janette Oke
"Love Me Tender" by Janice Hanna

Sixty-Five 1st cousins. (one on the way)

five facts || should I do a Q&A?

bored, so here's five random facts about me that you may not know *was gonna do ten but couldn't think of that many*, and random pictures I took over a year ago (I haven't taken pictures like that in a loooonnnngggg time) *winks*

1- of all my cousins (close to seventy) only seven are just my first cousins. Seven plus one who's actually not really related to me 'cause he was adopted. Seven. All the rest are also related to me in some other way. It's even hard for me to comprehend this. How is it only seven? also, of all these cousins, there is only one that I've never met. *nods*

2- I am related to Jesse James. For years it was a rumor, but now it has been proven and call me weird, but I think it's the coolest thing ever. It's proven. Frank and Jesse James are my cousins. I always believed it even when it was just a "rumor". Jesse looks like family. Because he is family. And why else would my great-great grandma get a letter from him, apologizing for not being able to make it to her wedding? I can't believe some people doubted. *shakes head* *winks*

3- I am a mutt. Mostly Finn or Scandinavian. Plus German, American Indian, English, French, Irish... to name a few. Mostly Finn because my Grandma is 100%, making my dad half... plus there's a little Finn on my mom's side, but from that side we're mostly Indian and German. And then there's English on my mom's side. Maybe some of you remember learning about The Deliverance saving Jamestown in history? Yeah, that was my relative who was captain of that ship. And Delaware state? That state was named after one of my grandpas... and this same grandpa was governor of Jamestown. *nods* So those are my English relatives. *winks* ...
being a mutt makes me truely American, right? *winks*

4- I was born October 14th (10.14.99), at 10:14 a.m. after 10 hours and 14 minutes of labor...*blink blink* if that's not cool, I honestly don't know what is.

5- I was named after the Dominican Republic (well, actually the Island of Dominica, which is in the Dominican Republic)- but my great-aunt thought the spelling should be changed a bit. To make it more feminine. And here I am - Daminika. I can't even imagine writing my name out as D-o-m-i-n-i-c-a... no, that would be just weird. I like the spelling the way it is. <3

also, should I do a Q&A post? If you think so, ask me a million questions in the comments! (and if I don't get a million, I won't do it *winks*)

10 facts

*The pictures and the post have nothing to do with each other*

Our Dwarf Goats - Simon, Alvin, and Theodore.

// For the past year I have not had a bedroom. We have a room, but it's really, really small and four of us girls share it. We have a mattress on the floor and it takes up the whole room, with dressers, toys, and hampers along the walls. Two girls sleep on the mattress while two girls sleep in the living room - switching on Fridays. But, we are working on a bedroom in our garage. We will have to enter from the outside, and us three oldest will be sharing it. I hope to do a post about it once we get it all done and we move in. We already painted the walls, ceiling, and floor - now my dad has to put in an open closet and some shelving. We hope to have it ready to move into by Saturday or sooner.
// I live 20 seconds from town.  (If we drive) But, guys, it's the smallest town ever. We have a store, a gas station, a fire station, a post office, a restaurant, a school, an ice cream/ coffee shop, a park, and an old church-turned-museum. That's about it. My little hometown. I wouldn't say it was a cute town - it's not like the buildings are made to look cool, but it's "my cute town". ;P I love the park, and enjoy walking to the little store. (I never thought of it as little until my cousin from South Carolina came out here and said it was)
// I have never tried a "Grinder" from Pizza Haven. When we visit New Hampshire it's always been easier to just get pizza. Otherwise my mom and dad just hear a bunch of "I want..." and it gets confusing. So I let people who know they want a grinder get one and I just say, "I'll have pizza." But next time (whenever that may be) I am going to have one! And nobody can stop me. ;P
// I think that the best music to help you work is Disney. That's just my opinion. ;) While we were painting our new bedroom, we listened to my sister's Pandora. I told her that we needed Disney - I just knew we could get it done faster if we had Disney. ;P
// Coca-Cola is the best pop... yes, "pop". It's just "the bomb" - enough said.
// I once broke my left foot. It was during the two weeks that we had family visiting in 2012. Our uncle said he would take us to the store to buy Arizona Iced Teas and such. I was so excited that I ran down the stairs of our old house and fell. My foot got caught in the railing and the bone broke. That hurt - I'll tell ya that. Once I was done falling, I realized that I had the wrong shoe and went limping back up the stairs to correct that. Once in my room I clung to my foot, rocking back and told myself that I would not cry. And I didn't. Well, not just then, anyway. ;P We did go to the store but I had to be carried back out and wait in the car because every time I put weight on my foot blood bubbled out of the cut that I also got. My dear, sweet uncle bought me some junk - so did Kirsten. And later Tyrel gave me his Arizona... so I was spoiled. ;P It's such a strange, horrible, but yet wonderful memory. Having the cast in my foot is a different story.
// My seventeenth birthday is in 2 weeks! *gasp* I just realized this today!
// I want cuddles from Kaaren!!! I miss that sweet little baby! Come visit me, "Auntie A"!!!! I need my little cousin! Bring Kirsten and my life would be complete... almost. All it would need is Tyrel. ;P Then my life would be complete.
//  I want Neal McCoy's tribute to Charley Pride. It's Neal McCoy singing Charley Pride's songs! It doesn't get any more amazing than that... unless it's Ricky Nelson singing country songs. ;P
// I think the new music video "Forever Country" is the saddest thing since "Gunsmoke" wasn't at Walmart when I had money. ;P... But, really. It's sad. Have you watched it?

Hope you enjoyed!

Ten Random Facts About Frank, Ducky, Peanut, Daminika... aka Me ;)

1. I'm trying to do as many blog posts as I can before the new year. That's the reason for this random post. :D

2. I'm known to go on 'Rabbit Trails' that most people think are pointless, but I find that they have quite a bit to do with which I am speaking. ;)

3. Cat or Dog? I'd take a cat! My family thinks I'm weird; especially my boy cousins and my brother. ;).. but, right now, Liberty's kitten, Tink (short for Tinkerbell), is playing on the rug with Chancy; so he doesn't hate cats as much as he says! :P

4. Besides the two books I like to 'pretend' to write, I have many stories in my head. I have so many, I often forget some of them! Sometimes I'm suddenly like, "Oh yeah! I made up a story where Ruby thinks Jeremy gets stuck in the cave!.." haha! ;)

5. I still sleep with a stuffed donkey; which I got on my first birthday from my Grandpa and Grandma Warnke. Felicity named him 'Cinnamon', and we all know him as that to this day. ;)

6. As I write this fact, I am listening to Johnny Crawford on my Pandora! ;)

7. I love weekends; but who doesn't? :P Friday night is what we call 'Family Night', and this Friday, Amanda and Tim are coming!!! :D Saturdays are always cool... and I love Sundays. Maybe its because I love being with people!

8. When I sign something, (letters, dairy entries, and stuff like that) I tend to put two little hearts after my name... I also have to remind myself not to sign things like library cards 'Frank James' ;) :P Guess that could've been an eleventh fact. :)

9. I tend to do a lot of wink faces! ;) :P

10. I have a lot of nicknames; as you can see from my title ;) Most of which Marita gave me. ;) But, it's my dad who calls me 'Peanut'... I do have more that I don't get called as often, but I didn't what my title to be that long! :D

About Me:

An Update to my ‘About Me’ page.

Is there really much that I can say about my life? I live in a tiny house, or, much smaller than the one I just moved from, and share my room with two of my sisters. We go to a small church that is part of the Apostolic Lutheran Church and I am home schooled. When I think about it, I guess I enjoy school. I don’t have much of it left to do, but I do History, Basic Science, Consumer Science, Grammar, and three different things for Bible (write a verse in cursive -- for penmanship, read and sing every morning, and a Bible ‘study’ of sorts). I have finished my Math (hooray!), but really enjoyed it while I did it. I like my History book, my Science book is okay, it being Science, and my Consumer Science is cool. Though, I like to write and like to know Grammar, that is one subject that I don’t enjoy as much as some.

There was a time when I had no idea who my heroes were. I would ask people thinking that they knew more about me than I would. But, nobody knew. Now, I know that I have not one, but three heroes! The first and most important, my hero is Jesus. I mean, he died for my sins, how could he not be my hero!?
George Washington has been my hero for a while now, I think I already mentioned that on this blog. But I never mentioned my other hero, and mostly because I was told that he was an idiot and not a Christian. I not only didn’t dare to tell anyone about him, but also thought that maybe I shouldn’t think so highly of him. But, after learning more about Walt Disney, I think I can tell people and back up my views of him. I’m not saying that he wasn’t human, I’m just saying he wasn’t what people say he was. Think about it; half the things people say he did, he wasn’t even still living at the time they say it happened! Don’t get me wrong; I’m not proud of the Disney company anymore, I think Walt himself would be ashamed.

My dreams are pretty normal for girl; I want to meet and marry the man God made or me. I have dreams of how we would meet, what our wedding would be like, what we would name our kids,… all the normal stuff to dream about. But I do have a dream that a lot of people don’t even think about; making movies! I want to make good, clean movies that are good for the whole family! My dream is sorta like Walt Disney’s, but I wouldn’t really want to become a huge company like he did. Recently, I’ve watched three movies that have made my dream bigger! First, I watched “As Dreamer’s Do: The Amazing life of Walt Disney”, which, as the title explains, was about Walt Disney and his dream. That made me realize that he was not the horrible man you hear about, but an American Christian who just wanted use the talents God gave him to make people happy. Then, I watched “Ace Wonder”, a movie made by Home schooled Christians, much like myself. This movie was so amazing, I had to watch their first movie, “The Widow’s Might”, which I was interested in, not just because the director was young, but also because it was about him trying to live his dream; making movies. Not just watching the movie itself, but also watching “Behind the Scenes” made me realize that my dream isn’t crazy and I can do it! … someday.

Here are some things I'm just crazy about; my favorites: 1950-60, dresses, music, records, pink!, coffee, hanging out, rain!, the end of the year (October: my birthday, November: Thanksgiving, December: Christmas! Not to mention how awesome winter is!), boots, coats, and my friends!

And here are some of my pass times: do hair, crochet, knit (sometimes), write, dream, sing (in private), talk (unless you know me really well; you won’t ever see this side of me), SMASH* book, listen to music, and laughing.

Ten Random Facts:

1. I’m a night owl; I guess I take after my Grandma Stenersen’s side of the family, I like to stay up late into the night; maybe that’s why I have so much fun in New Hampshire?

2. I cry a lot; lets face it, I really do! I guess I’m emotional? My sisters say that will be a problem when I get married, but my mom said that who I marry will be made for me and will know how to handle it… I hope ;)

3. I’m shy; around people I’m not comfortable with anyway.

4. I can’t handle it when people are sad; I get sad myself because I can’t make them happy!

5. I can’t handle being left out; but I’m getting better! Last Sunday, all my friends went to a museum and I couldn’t go (I’m not 16 yet); I didn’t cry! But that doesn’t mean I didn’t want to.

6. I try to dress up everyday; it’s fun and living 15 minutes from town, who knows when we’ll randomly run to Wal-Mart or Fred Meyers!? (even though I did dress up when we lived 25-30 minutes away, but now I have a good excuse, don’t I?)But, though I dress up everyday, I live the first half of the day in my pajama‘s. ;)

7. I can’t curl my hair; no matter how hard I try, it always falls out!

8. I’ve always lived in Clark County; and if it was up to me, I always will.

9. I love kids! All my little cousins are amazing and I just would die without them!

10. I’m weird; or so says my cousin.

Well, That’s me!
