We all know the Disney songs like
Let it Go,
A Whole New World,
Can You Feel the Love Tonight, and
Beauty and The Beast. But, have you ever heard
On the Front Porch? Or have ever actually appreciated the lyrics in the reprise of
One Jump Ahead from Aladdin?
Well, today I'm tossing you some links to some of my favorite disney songs that are way too underrated. Hope you enjoy this!
|| Candle On The Water (Pete's Dragon {1977})
I'll be your candle on the water
My love for you will always burn
I know your lost and drifting,
But the clouds are lifting
Don't give up you have somewhere to turn.
oooh this soooonggggg. It's just so beautiful.
Not many people take the time to watch the original Pete's Dragon, but please dooooo it. It's simply beautiful. Nora is told that the love of her life, Paul was killed t sea, but she refuses to believe it, despite everyone telling her to move on. This song is her singing to Paul, and it's so beautiful. <3
|| Someone's Waiting For You (The Rescuers)
Be brave, little one
Make a wish for each sad little tear
Hold your head up though no one is near
Someone's waiting for you
*tears* Poor, poor Penny was kidnapped and feels hopeless. This song is such a tearjerker, so be warned. But even when it made me sad, and a little bit frightened as a child, I always loved it. Even back then I listened to the lyrics and pondered them. I knew the song was meant to be a song of hope.
ah, it's so beautiful.
|| Oo-de-Lally (Robin Hood)
Robin Hood and Little John
Walkin' through the forest
Laughin' back and forth
At what the other has to say
Roger Miller, a voice from my childhood, singing a song from my childhood. Not to mention the movie itself is also from my childhood *winks* I love this song so much. I guess you could say it's a feel-good song. Such a good opening to the movie
|| On The Front Porch (Summer Magic)
All I wanna do when the day is through
Is linger here on the front porch with you
From the wicker swing, while the night birds sing
We'll watch the fireflies sparkin, do some sparkin to
This movie itself is so good. But this song has always been beautiful to me. Makes me think of a summer evening. Everyone is tired from a long day of visiting the company who came over that Sunday afternoon. All the feels. <3 Not to mention the beautiful voices. Eddie Hodges, Haley Mills, Burl Ives, and everyone <3333
|| Stick-to-it-Tivity (So Dear To My Heart)
Yes siree (Yes siree)
Yes siree (Yes siree)
You can clear the deck for opportunity
By applyin' Stick-to-it-ivity
This is a super cute movie about a boy who raises a very troublesome black sheep named, Danny. Throughout the movie a cartoon owl, The Wise Old Owl, will sometimes pop in to give some advice to Jeremiah. This song is one of the Wise Old Owl's songs. I always loved it as a kid. Maybe because of the mini history lesson?
|| So This Is Love (Cinderella)
So, this is love? Mm-mm-mm-mm
So, this is love?
So, this is what makes life divine?
You never hear much about this short, but beautiful song from Cinderella. In my opinion, it's the best song from the movie <3 Cinderella and Prince Charming singing, "So, this is love?" as they dance together. It's just so beautiful.
|| I'm Still Here (Treasure Planet)
And I want a moment to be real
Wanna touch things I don’t feel
Wanna hold on and feel I belong
I didn't watch this movie till recently, but I've always known about it. I feel like the movie itselfs is underrated, but the song even more so. This song is beautifully sad, and I just love beautifully sad things, so there's that *winks* I linked to the scene from the movie, but I do believe the actual song is a little longer. *shrugs*
|| One Jump Ahead (Reprise) (Aladdin)
Riff-raff, street rat, I don't buy that
If only they'd look closer
Would they see a poor boy?
No siree they'd find out there's so much more to me
this soooonnngggggg <333333 Like I said, I love things that are beautifully sad (Iron Man's death? LOVED IT). This song does such a good job of getting across what Aladdin's feeling in that moment after being told he'll never amount to anything. So beautiful <3
|| Sons of Liberty (Johnny Tremain)
Plant the seed in our homeland, boys. Let it grow where all can see
Feed it with our devotion, boys. Call it the Liberty Tree
This song always get to me. I love this part in the movie - after the Boston Tea Party and they're walking through the streets singing, and lighting up the Liberty Tree. <3 and the lyrics are just sooooo good!!!
|| Love Will Find a Way (Lion King II: Simba's Pride)
In a perfect world
One we've never known
We would never need
To face the world alone
I love this song so much. Kiara and Kovu are so in love, but Simba doesn't trust Kovu and so sends him away. Kiara gets mad and runs off to be alone. And that's when they start to sing this lovely duet. <3
